Learning Outcomes and Application This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to prepare, set up and test a multi-stage continuous packaging line.The unit applies to individuals who are responsible for the continuous operation of a multi-stage continuous packaging line in the packaging industry.All work must be carried out to comply with workplace procedures, according to state/territory health and safety, and food safety regulations, legislation and standards that apply to the workplace.No occupational licensing, legislative or certification requirements are known to apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Element: Prepare to set multi-stage continuous packaging line
  • Interpret work instructions and identify potential health and safety in the workplace hazards and controls
  • Select, fit and use appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Ensure that components are available and meet requirements
  • Select and use appropriate hand tools
  • Ensure equipment is safe to set according to operating instructions
       
Element: Assemble, set and adjust multi-stage continuous packaging line
  • Assemble equipment in correct sequence according to operating instructions
  • Replace equipment components and set to meet production specifications
  • Change services as required
  • Test packaging line to meet specifications and operational requirements
  • Adjust packaging line settings to meet specifications and according to operating instructions
  • Liaise with operators in other work areas to ensure ongoing packaging process runs efficiently and effectively

  • Monitor and clear waste generated by the process according to workplace procedures
  • Store unused components according to workplace procedures
  • Conduct work to meet workplace environmental guidelines
  • Instruct operators according to workplace procedure

Assessment Tasks
